| Our 100 Days Campaign for Citizenship for All has launched! |
Friends! It's a new dawn, a new age, and a new administration! As you all know, President Joe Biden could not get to where he is right now without the relentless organizing of Black, Brown, Asian, and immigrant communities. Our community's power made this happen!
So, what better way was there to celebrate the Inauguration this week than to LAUNCH our NEW 100 Days Campaign for #Citizenship4All!
We along with NAKASEC, HANA Center of Greater Chicago, Korean Resource Center of Southern California, and Woori Center of Greater Philadelphia, are so excited to be leading this campaign where we are pushing the Biden-Harris administration and Congress to commit to their campaign promise of passing citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants within their first 100 days in office! |
Our Demands Our demands are clear. In the first 100 days, the Biden-Harris administration and Congress must legislate: A pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants, regardless of age, country of origin, or criminal background; A pathway to citizenship for all intercountry adoptees, including those who have been deported; and A moratorium on deportations with the goal of abolishing ICE and CBP.
Our Strategy Towards achieving this end, the 100 Day Campaign will include a multi-faceted strategy of story sharing of undocumented immigrants, 100 days of phone calls to Congress (“phonedogging”) demanding citizenship for all, and in-person mobilizations in D.C. |
Phonedogging Congress! Inspired by "bird-dogging," for Biden's first 100 days in office we are going to be calling Congress and the White House EVERY DAY to demand that they act on and pass citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants and an immediate moratorium on deportations! Will you commit to helping us call? Sign up here! Our goal is to reach 11,000 calls by the 100th day to represent the 11 million we are fighting for. Join us! We need all the help we can get! |
Story Sharing! Our plan is to share out one story per week over the first 100 days for a total of 14 powerful stories. Because immigrant narratives are saturated in “deservingness” language that uplifts young, educated, able-bodied immigrants at the expense of others, our goal is specifically to uplift immigrants who are traditionally excluded first from immigration bills because they are deemed “undeserving” - e.g., older community members, those without formal education, those who have been involved in the carceral system. |
"From the Biden admin. and Congress, I hope that people like us, people like me, are able to stay with our families. My father passed away while I was in prison, so my mother is all I have and I am all that she has, so I want to be able to build my life here, build something that I can give back...” ~Justin (Please also sign this petition demanding CA Governor Gavin Newsom grant a pardon for Justin!) |

In-Person Mobilizations in D.C.! We plan to host a daily presence in front of the White House and Capitol for all 100 days in the form of vigils, rallies, and other visibility activities. We refuse to repeat the Obama years, and allow the urgency of immigration reform to slip into the shadows, again. Our physical presence in Washington, D.C. will elevate our demands and create the urgency and pressure necessary to ensure that immigration remains a top legislative priority for the Biden administration.
(*Please note that our daily actions will be socially distanced. All participants will be required to wear a mask, sanitize their hands frequently, and maintain social distance from other participants not in their pod.)
Given the fast pace of legislation, and the recent white nationalist insurrections, our team plans to be flexible with the location of our vigils. Currently, we are prepared to host a 2-hour vigil in front of the White House every day, but depending on how immigration bills move in Congress, and safety considerations, you may find us in front of the Capitol, or a different location in D.C., instead!
Follow us on social media (@MinKwonCenter) for the most recent updates about our daily presence in D.C.! |
